Camp Toccoa at Currahee, Inc. was incorporated in 2012 as a separate tax exempt 501(c)(3) corporation (pending IRS approval) with its own corporate charter and board of directors by members of the Stephens County History Society in response to a growing need to provide visitor resource facilities at Historic Camp Toccoa.

Peter Wheeler
Pete Wheeler is the Georgia Commissioner for Veterans Affairs.
He is an attorney and has been admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts. The State Bar of Georgia honored him with a Certificate of Accomplishment, commemorating the completion of more than fifty years of service as a member of the Bar of the State of Georgia.  more...

The Camp Toccoa At Currahee Inc. Executive Committee will from time to time invite persons to become Honorary Trustees.
 
Honorary Trustees shall be persons of considerable public stature who have either served with distinction in our Military or have made a significant contribution to commemorating the service and sacrifices of the Men and Women of our Military Service and who wish to lend their name to provide the Camp Toccoa At Currahee Organization both legitimacy and a high profile with which to promote its programs.

Honorary Trustees shall me non-voting members.

Tom Hanks

American actor, producer, writer, and director. Hanks is known for his roles in Apollo 13, Big, That Thing You Do!, The Green Mile, You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Charlie Wilson's War, Catch Me If You Can, Forrest Gump, Cast Away, A League of Their Own, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, as well as animated films like the Toy Story film series, The Polar Express, and The Simpsons Movie.

He has earned and been nominated for numerous awards during his career, including winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor and an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in Philadelphia and a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a People's Choice Award for Best Actor for his role in Forrest Gump, and earning the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film from the BAFTAs in 2004.

Hanks is also known for his collaboration with film director Steven Spielberg on Saving Private Ryan and the mini-series Band of Brothers, which launched Hanks also as a successful director, producer and writer.

Commander of I Corps 1976-1978, Commandant of the United States Army Command and General Staff College 1973 – 1976 and Commander of 101st Airborne Division 1972-1973.


John Eisenhower, BG (Ret) *

Son of President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife Mamie, retired United States Army Brigadier General, and the author of several books of military history. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium from 1969 to 1971. During his father's presidency he served as Assistant Staff Secretary in the White House, on the Army's General Staff, and in the White House as assistant to General Andrew Goodpaster.  more...


Douglas Kinnard, LTG (Ret) *

A 1944 graduate of West Point, served in combat in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, retiring as a brigadier general. After receiving a Ph.D. from Princeton, he taught at the University of Vermont, at which he is now professor emeritus of political science. Subsequently, he was on the faculty of the Naval War College and the National Defense University. Now a resident of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, he is the author of seven books.


Note: All three of these Generals to be were in the famous West Point Class that graduated on D – Day, June 6 1944.
